With all the grace and aplomb of a monocled rhinoceros unable to pay his tab at a Michelin rated restaurant, Hero Squad has once again found themselves atop a mountain of dead heroic bosses. Starting with a driving attempt on Lord Rhyolith that would make Billy Joel blush, we brought that big silly bastard down on his big red butt and ransacked his corpse for everything it was worth. Unsatisfied and full of rage, we tore through a few regular modes and bested Majordomo in one-versus-twenty-four-and-a-half combat (with all apologies to our “little person” raider Scoregasms).

The highlight of the night came when our very own Shadow Priest extraordinaire Muertedolor received his legendary weapon in the center of Org. Soon after he received it, we popped over to the training dummy where he let his cat walk on his keyboard and posted a quick 30,000 DPS number to everyone’s great delight. We are now armed with the Wrath of Tarecgosa and the Firelands will soon be extinguished.

Hero Squad downed Shannox on heroic difficulty on August 23rd. We put in a solid 22 attempts– most of which were wasted on trying to get the raid to perform a complex dance which involved moving in and around a series of geometrical shapes designed to keep the Riplimb tank away from Shannox and moving Rageface into crystal prison traps.

It took us about 18 attempts before we realized that we’re all terrible at dancing and math. A short argument on the differences between acute and obtuse angles led into a long discussion where we ultimately decided to try our oh so solid Vegas strat. We traded in our protractors and tap dancing shoes for some swords, magics, and a pair of tunnel-vision goggles and soon enough Shannox found himself on a one way street to frown town.

Enjoy the video of our first kill in 1080p =D

“Killing Screaming off is the best strat Hero Squad (read: Hero Squad’s Healers) has ever had. Letting her die has consistently proven to be the go-to plan for downing the minions of Firelands” – Replica

“Finally we went with my strat of assigning everyone to one add for the transition phases. Everything I say is right I don’t know why it takes the officers a couple weeks to come around. Also thanks to Henqetnetjer for the constant encouragement.” – Bonesalot

“I eat a spoonful of paste right before every execute phase” – Muertedolor

“fuck” – Screaming

Hero Squad’s first kill can be watched here in glorious 1080p.

Hero Squad is gearing up for a guild-wide Secret Santa. The premise is pretty simple. Guldies can sign up here in this thread. Next week they will receive the name of the person they’ll be giving a gift to. Sometime between that point and December 31st, they can secretly give their gift and also expect to receive a gift.

Full info after the jump >>

How to Sign up?
- For HS guildies only
- Just sign up in this thread. Next Friday we will pair everyone off and then mail you with someone’s name.

So, when is all this going down?
- Signups will be open for one week, closing next Friday, December 10th. I’m not going to be ingame at all, so it’s up to you guys to get the word out to the people that don’t check the forums regularly.
- Deadline to give the gift will be Friday, December 31st.

How do I deliver my gift?
- In order to keep this a Secret Santa you’ll want to hide your identity. To deliver your gift do one of these two things:
- Create or use an unknown alt, and either hand deliver or mail the gift to your Secret Santee.
- Mail or deliver the gift to Muerte, and he will Ho, Ho, Ho the gift all the way to your Secret Santee.

What should I give and how much do I need to give?
- Cool ingame shit. Funny outfits, cool items, LARP gear, whatever strikes your fancy. Be creative!
- In terms of the amount, I would say that whatever you can afford. Though, something cheap that is meaningful/funny would probably go further than a pile of gold or stack of gems. Thought > Gold

What if I get screwed and don’t get anything?
- Let Henq or Muerte know if you don’t get your gift, and these guys will do unpleasant stuff to your Santa. Public shaming, berating and other abuse is in store for scrooges. Don’t sign up if you’re not going to give something.

Other things to remember
- This is Secret Santa! If you don’t know much about your ‘Santee’ ask around and see if someone else can give you some insight on something fun to give them.
- Have fun and everyone should participate. No reason in the world (of warcraft) not to.

When all the gifts go out we’ll do a show and tell thread where everyone can say what they got for gifts, and who they were Santa for.

Just when I think WotLK progression is over and done with, the guys go ahead and polish off a new boss.

A 10-man team went into ICC last night and tonight a worked through LK10-hardmode. Kungfoo is back from his summer of international mystery and intrigue. He teamed with with Holy[clicker]Cor’s strangely spelled alt ‘Nerkomancer’ to do warlock stuff to the King of Liches, Potsu and teeArthas represented Canada, Muerte and Bones represented the Asshole thread from our forums, Shavy and Ellionwy healed bitches, and Henq stopped leveling alts long enough to actually run a raid. Oh, and Score was there too not being a clicker, asshole, healer or Henq.

When I was in high-school I used to see this hardcore band named Bane all the time. They really weren’t all that good, and don’t relate to this boss kill in any way, but I’m still gonna link to them in this post.

Tuesday night we managed to knock off yet another achievement for most of the guild. Didn’t take any motivational speeches by marty$ or much else else other than a few laid back raid nights. Neck-Deep in Vile really should be re-named Neck-Deep in a Raid with No Melee. We had heard that whenever you get a new mount it’s required that you head to the well in Dalaran and float there till the end of time, so we instructed our raiders to get their asses over there and hover, hover, hover.

Assuming hell doesn’t freeze over or the nerf-bat stays away from the Lich King hardmode, this will probably be the last progression update you’ll hear from us in Wrath. Last Thursday Henq’s Heroes got together to dance around blocks of ice, and managed to kill the boss with the most annoying mouth in the history of voice acting. We dicked around for most of the night, then finally, Muertedolores called everyone in the guild fat, which was all everyone needed to hear. The Heroes held hands and pranced around blocks of ice, and eventually the dargon got all big and red, and Henq killed her with his bare hands.

So begins our first game of the 2010 Hero Squad Sealed Chest Extravaganza. This game will have our raiders traveling around Azeroth completing odd tasks, doing some sightseeing, and more than likely getting themselves into a bit of trouble. At stake is a chance to take home an item of their choosing from the Sealed Chest.

Rules and the full list of items raiders will be hunting for after the jump.

Scavenger Hunt Rules

Timeframe (all times EST):
Start: 6:00PM Friday, 8/6
End: 11:59pm Sunday 8/15

Eligibility:
To be eligible to win one of the items from the sealed chest you must have accrued at least 120 lifetime DKP on the current ICC DKP table when the contest ends on August 15, 2010.

Scoring:
- Each screenshot is worth one point
- To receive full points, your character must be must be wearing the guild tabard
- The guild tabard will change based on the time of day:
     - When the tabard is GREEN all screenshots will be worth full points.
     - When the tabard is RED all screenshots will be worth 75%
- The tabard will be GREEN: Monday-Thursday 6pm-1am, and 6pm Friday until 1am the following Monday (all weekend)
- All other times the tabard will be RED
- Screenshots with no visible tabard will be worth 75%
-Items marked with a {*} are repeatable. Feel free submit screenshots with as many unique instances of these items as you find.

Delivery:
- All Screenshot files to be named according to the numbered list below
(i.e. “Swimming with a shark” named: 01.jpg; for repeatable items append a letter to the name, i.e. 01a.jpg, 01b.jpg, 01c.jpg etc.)
- All Screenshots are to be zipped and emailed to Skrob or Henq
     (click for delivery options…)
- Screenshot must be delivered by Monday, August 16th
- In the event of a tie, we will choose the winner by the order received

Tips:
- Don’t be afraid to team up with your guildies. While you are all competing for the top spot here, many of these tasks could be difficult to solo.
- If you’re having trouble finding an angle that includes your tabard in your screeshot, opening you character pane will clearly show us the color of your tabard
- A few of these tasks require you to visit NPCs or things that are in multiple places around the World of Warcraft (probably in places we didn’t even think of when designing this scavenger hunt). For instance, if you were tasked with /kissing Tirion Fordring, you could kiss him in the Lich King’s room, the Entrance to ICC, even in the Caverns of Time: Durnholde.
- Be creative and have fun! We didn’t put any of these tasks on the list to be obnoxious. They were either made to be slightly challenging, or to hopefully give you a laugh or two while attempting them. We’re also hoping that you’ll make us laugh as we’re sifting through your piles of screenshots.

In the next few weeks our resident DPS DK, and all around nice guy of the year, Sog the Destroyer will complete Hero Squad’s first Shadowmourne. As you probably have heard by now, when Shadowmourne is created Sog will be given a quest that awards 5 rare and unique vanity items:

Reins of the Crimson Deathcharger – Pretty kick-ass mount. Red colored and looks like the Death Knight’s class mount.

Tabard of the Lightbringer – A tabard with a bright glowing on-use effect

Muradin’s Favor – Transforms you into a Frost Dwarf for 10 minutes.

Jaina’s Locket – Opens a “mage portal” to Dalaran

Sylvanas’ Music Box – A music box that plays Lament of the Highborne and spawns two lady ghosties.

As a sort of “Thank You” to our raiding core, many who have been slogging it out with us in Icecrown Citadel since December, we’ve decided to make these items available to our our raiders.

Rather than just choosing from our favorite people in the guild, or using some boring random /roll method, we’ve decided it would be fun play some games, with the winner and runners-up of these games being awarded this loot.

The games will have our members roaming all over the World of Warcraft. Possibly humiliating themselves. Perhaps begging for help from anyone who will listen. Probably getting themselves killed in ways that will have the passer-by scratching their heads.

Read on for more details on the games…

Overview of the games
(more details and indepth rules as we get closer to the date):

Game #1: Screenshot Scavenger Hunt
On Friday, August 6th at 6:00pm EST we will post a list of 100 things for participants to see, or do all around Azeroth. The Scavenger Hunt will end on Sunday, August 15th at 11:59PM. The first, second and third place winners will be eligible for loot from the Sealed Chest.

Game #2: Officer Hide and Seek
On Tuesday, August 17th all eligible raiders will meet on the Dalaran North Banks steps. At 8:00pm (normal raid start time) Henq, Shavyah and Skrob will all hearth away and head to hiding spots somewhere in Azeroth. Participants will then race to try and hunt down the officers before their fellow raiders. First and Second place winners will be eligible to win a piece of loot from the Sealed Chest.

Awarding the Items
On Tuesday, August 17th, after the game of Officer Hide and Seek is over, everyone will meet back up on the steps of the Dalaran North Bank. The 5 winners will then face off head to head in a game of chance to determine the order in which the items are chosen.

See below for a time table of the event (click to enlarge):

To our raiders, good luck and have fun. To our fellow members of the Bleeding Hollow community, if you see a Hero Squad member doing something awkward or stupid, it’s all in the name of rare loot. Help them out if you’re feeling charitable, and if not, go on and grief the living hell out of them.

Check Herosquad.us often. More information and updates will be posted in the coming weeks.
