Hero Squad

With all the grace and aplomb of a monocled rhinoceros unable to pay his tab at a Michelin rated restaurant, Hero Squad has once again found themselves atop a mountain of dead heroic bosses. Starting with a driving attempt on Lord Rhyolith that would make Billy Joel blush, we brought that big silly bastard down on his big red butt and ransacked his corpse for everything it was worth. Unsatisfied and full of rage, we tore through a few regular modes and bested Majordomo in one-versus-twenty-four-and-a-half combat (with all apologies to our “little person” raider Scoregasms).

The highlight of the night came when our very own Shadow Priest extraordinaire Muertedolor received his legendary weapon in the center of Org. Soon after he received it, we popped over to the training dummy where he let his cat walk on his keyboard and posted a quick 30,000 DPS number to everyone’s great delight. We are now armed with the Wrath of Tarecgosa and the Firelands will soon be extinguished.

Hero Squad downed Shannox on heroic difficulty on August 23rd. We put in a solid 22 attempts– most of which were wasted on trying to get the raid to perform a complex dance which involved moving in and around a series of geometrical shapes designed to keep the Riplimb tank away from Shannox and moving Rageface into crystal prison traps.

It took us about 18 attempts before we realized that we’re all terrible at dancing and math. A short argument on the differences between acute and obtuse angles led into a long discussion where we ultimately decided to try our oh so solid Vegas strat. We traded in our protractors and tap dancing shoes for some swords, magics, and a pair of tunnel-vision goggles and soon enough Shannox found himself on a one way street to frown town.

After a few weeks of wipes, summer MIAs delaying a few good nights of practice, Hero Squad downed Ragnaros in 25m Firelands Thursday August 11th. Several members of Hero Squad were interviewed after the kill and here’s what they had to say.

Hero Squad is proud to announce the birthday of our very own Ponieus! It’s not every day you get to play with a centenarian. As the guild’s eldest healer he’s been a beacon of warmth and happiness. Look him up in-game and toss him a whisper, he loves giving out free gold!

Hero Squad finally slays the black dragon of Blackwing Descent.
Numerous wipes spanning three days led up to the kill.
We tried several strategies through out three nights to down him.
We tried having Potsu dc several times. That did not work.
We tried having the add tanks break healer los around the pillars. That did not work.
We tried standing in purple fire. Not even THAT worked.
In the end we brought in the big guns.
Put out some cauldrons, feasts, buffed up, ready checked…and then threw Jeeves down in the pit while we hid upstairs watching.
Fearlessly, Jeeves dropped a guild banner and proceeded to solo this final wing boss.
Congrats to everyone on the kill and a big thanks to Jeeves for his bravery and dedication.

After making our way past what should be the final boss in the dungeon (Twilight Council), we made relatively short work of Cho’gall.

Around ten attempts across two nights to bring him down for the first time.

After adjusting our positioning by 90 degrees, we divided up the raid on the tentacles and finished him off relatively easily. Who brings out tentacles to attack people? Honestly! Who does he think he is? YoggSaron?

Hero Squad is gearing up for a guild-wide Secret Santa. The premise is pretty simple. Guldies can sign up here in this thread. Next week they will receive the name of the person they’ll be giving a gift to. Sometime between that point and December 31st, they can secretly give their gift and also expect to receive a gift.

Just when I think WotLK progression is over and done with, the guys go ahead and polish off a new boss.

A 10-man team went into ICC last night and tonight a worked through LK10-hardmode. Kungfoo is back from his summer of international mystery and intrigue. He teamed with with Holy[clicker]Cor’s strangely spelled alt ‘Nerkomancer’ to do warlock stuff to the King of Liches, Potsu and teeArthas represented Canada, Muerte and Bones represented the Asshole thread from our forums, Shavy and Ellionwy healed bitches, and Henq stopped leveling alts long enough to actually run a raid. Oh, and Score was there too not being a clicker, asshole, healer or Henq.

When I was in high-school I used to see this hardcore band named Bane all the time. They really weren’t all that good, and don’t relate to this boss kill in any way, but I’m still gonna link to them in this post.

Tuesday night we managed to knock off yet another achievement for most of the guild. Didn’t take any motivational speeches by marty$ or much else else other than a few laid back raid nights. Neck-Deep in Vile really should be re-named Neck-Deep in a Raid with No Melee. We had heard that whenever you get a new mount it’s required that you head to the well in Dalaran and float there till the end of time, so we instructed our raiders to get their asses over there and hover, hover, hover.

Assuming hell doesn’t freeze over or the nerf-bat stays away from the Lich King hardmode, this will probably be the last progression update you’ll hear from us in Wrath. Last Thursday Henq’s Heroes got together to dance around blocks of ice, and managed to kill the boss with the most annoying mouth in the history of voice acting. We dicked around for most of the night, then finally, Muertedolores called everyone in the guild fat, which was all everyone needed to hear. The Heroes held hands and pranced around blocks of ice, and eventually the dargon got all big and red, and Henq killed her with his bare hands.
